Deceitful Charm ~ Ayomide

He was always good with words, She could still remember things he said to her, letters he wrote , the little sweet nothings he told…

“You are a hidden treasure I was fortunate to meet, and every day, you keep amazing me with your charm, not talking about your beauty, that certainly is intriguing; but your sweet heart. With you, I feel so strong that I can take on anything, and anytime you compliment me, my insecurities crumble. When the bible speaks of a woman who is more beautiful than rubies, you are the perfect fit, and even rubies or precious stones can’t even compete, whether they are or yet to be discovered, all because you my darling are totally priceless”

Who would not fall for that, with those words, she felt like she had found true love in him.

She got so carried away with the continuous shower of gifts, the nice messages, his charm and charisma that she completely disregarded every form of warning she had ever received about differentiating lust from love.

It wasn’t long after that, that he began inviting her over to dark corners, lines became blurred ,lies were told and boundaries went out the back door.

She had forgotten that she was a child of light and not of night, and even though he was a wonderful, perfect, speaking-in-tongues kinda “Innocent brother”, she ignored the fact that “not everyone who calls him Lord, meant it and that, she was not to be “impressed with his charm and charisma; but to look for character”

She continually ignored the red flags and couldn’t even perceive the deceit. Soon afterwards, she had given her body to him. The hope of sexual purity before marriage was gone. She’d cry each night, she had sinned against her own body but couldn’t tell anyone. Who’d believe the charming “innocent” dude could do such, but then again, blinded by charm, she sunk deeper and deeper.

just as it was written: “ the wicked one will come with the power of satan and perform every kind of false miracles and wonders, and use every kind of deceit on all who will perish because they did not welcome and love the truth as to be saved. And so God sends the power of error to work in them so that they believe what is false”

In time, things that had never been an issue sprung up and gradually this wonderful, charming brother began to complain about everything and within days, he moved on, leaving her with the feeling that it was all her fault. He was toying with her and this became obvious to her in time.

A new girl came into the picture and brother charming moved on to his next prey. She watched from a distance, it felt as though her world would come crashing down……..

Her emotional heart was shattered. Because really, your anatomic heart isn’t made of glass.

Decide consciously not to be “her” as you go about the celebration of love, the God-kinda love (which it should be).

But even if you’ve once treaded this path or the character fits the current you perfectly, know that the Master is very much interested in you and can use this situation to break, mould and build you into form, removing all the impurities that have been added to the beautiful masterpiece you’ve had always been, a jewel worth the attention of a KING.

“We are only what we are in the dark when no one sees us; the rest is reputation. What God looks at is what we are in the dark-the imaginations of our minds; the thoughts of our heart; the habits of our bodies; these are the things well exposed in God’s sight. As the Day draws nearer, ask for grace to walk aright with our Saviour Jesus Christ”

  1. Proverbs 31:30a kept ringing in my head as I read this piece.
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain….

I am the prize. Thanks for the reminder, Ayomide
