A simple reminder

I grew up in a Christian household, and that meant you had to attend mass every Sunday, catechism classes, and confession once a month without any excuses. My father didn’t care for your stories and even if he didn’t go, you did as he said not as he did.

Anyway, there was this song we used to sing

“Read your Bible pray everyday , pray everyday , pray everyday ; read your Bible pray everyday if you want to grow”

And this song has been playing in my head all week and I don’t know why but lets learn a few lessons. I remember years back, asking my dad “how can I grow by just reading the Bible”? I don’t remember his answer but many years later, that simple song finally makes some sense.

I am not going to give you some long lecture but like food nourishes your body , the word nourishes your soul.

So if you want to grow your finances

Ecclesiastes 11:2 – Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.

Proverbs 21:5 – The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

You want to grow your relationships

1 Thessalonians 5:11 -Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Proverbs 18:24 – A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

You want to grow your marriage

Proverbs 12:4 – An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

You want to grow in wisdom

Proverbs 13:20 – Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 27:17 – Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

You want to grow in faith

Romans 10:27 ~ So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

You want to grow your family

Psalm 127:3 – Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.

You want to grow in character

Matthew 7:12 – “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

You want to grow in Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

You want to grow in God

Then remember without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him – Hebrews 11:16

1 john 4:8 – Remember also that anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

I can go on and on but this song reminds me that the Word has all the answers and if you really want to grow , and it doesn’t matter what area of your life you want to better , if you can sit and find it in the word, you can definitely see it materialize in your world.

I know life can get busy, there is a lot on your plate , you are tired and there aren’t enough hours in one day anymore but I promise you , the only one who needs the word is you.

So make time, listen to mama’s podcast BBB , join us every week day by 3pm on 3pmwithPm, surround yourself daily with the word and read your Bible and pray everyday so that like a tree planted by the river, you can grow in every good way.

  1. Thank you so much for this check. It is true about that song and makes more sense after reading this. We grow by the word and I intend to come back to this again every time I need a reminder. God bless you for breaking it down right for me. We appreciate you 🙏

  2. I love the part that says you can sit and find it(anything you want) in the “word” and you’ll see it materialize in your “world”. This gives me an assurance that if i want something I should pray about it and also look for them in the word so I can pray in line and also make confessions with those scriptures. Thank you for this reminder
