HAIR AND SKIN CARE FOR THE WEATHER.

It’s 1 day to Christmas daaayyy💃🏼💃💃.Are you ready? Don’t let anybody tell you it’s not your birthday because it is! “Christ in you, the hope of Glory” “We are made one with Christ” “As He is so are we in this world” .Hian! What else do they want to hear before they accept that it’s our birthday too? 🙄So dears, while we prepare for the ultimate groove, there are certain things we need to cater to as regards our general outlook and that’s our skin and hair.

Dear Lagosians, do not be deceived, harmattan is actually in the air. The cold might have eluded the centre of excellence and spread across other states , but the harmattan dryness is definitely present within the sun, with our skin, lips and hair being it’s primary victims. But fear not , Chisom is here ! with tips to fight back 💪🏼.
Let’s go…

SKIN.
Three words to live by for your skin in this season are

HYDRATE
MOISTURIZE
CAUTION

Hydrate : This is when you would want to drink the most water because the atmosphere is in competition with you for whatever level of humidity there is out there. Drink lots of water from warm to moderately cool don’t go gulping ice water please dears. The more water you drink, the more you have in circulation to hydrate your skin from the inside out.

Moisturize : Dear gentlemen that don’t like to use lotions or creams, please look at your skin now, the way it looks like spider web. do you like it? My guess is no. I’m not saying go and buy Makari o, infact that won’t do much for you now. You see baby oil, coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter or any moisturizing body lotion that has any of these as it’s constituents , make them your best friend. After each shower , your soap rids your skin of moisture and you’d want to replace it. This happens on a normal day , you can now imagine the intensity in this type of weather . So just take some and rub between your palms and spread generously around your body and step out looking like a baby girl or a baby boy. Please repeat this at least after every shower. Don’t come out on these streets with skin looking like crocodile 🐊.Caution:
This is not a good time to sustain bruises and cuts o, at alllllll, because it will hurt bad. I think healing is even slower in very dry season sef so let’s just be careful around sharp objects or hazardous materials and environments.

LIPS

Ladies and GENTLEMEN, emphasis on gentlemen because ladies just naturally use lipglosses anyways. Stop licking your lips ooooooooo, apart from the fact that I personally do not think that thing is cute, you are taking away the tiny moisture left and in no time you’ll start to have cracks on them. Fine boy mission failed. Don’t use lipglosses please 🤣 but petroleum jelly or shea butter would go a long way in moisturizing for a long period of time in a day.You won’t look weird I promise. Ladies, please avoid matte lipsticks and lip stains, this is not the time please. Use moisturizing lip glosses or satin lip sticks for glam and moisture.

HAIR.
Ladiiesss , I believe by now we’ve all done our Christmas hair. If you haven’t , I’m just going to conclude that you want to do wigs throughout this season and that’s okay too (not really to be honest). But where I might start quarrelling with you is when you say you don’t intend to do anything, just carry your hair open and out like that . Ahn ahn , is it fair? If someone left you naked in the cold when he/she has power to provide covering , would you be happy?

So if you are not going to be doing wigs , do protective styles like crochet , box braids /twists , install weaves , anything that just shields your hair from the dry air.It doesn’t even end there , from time to time , whether with wigs or these protective styles , work some oils(coconut oil, olive oil, argan oils) into your scalp as they are prone to dryness this season. For the wigsters , keep your natural hair moisturized regularly and covered as often as possible so the moisture doesn’t fly away 🤣.Gentlemen, lol, I’m sorry for stressing you , this is the last one I promise. Please moisturize your hair too, just a little bit.I hope you find this helpful. Have a hydrated and moisturized Christmas ✌🏼Love,Chisom .
