Day 2 – YHWH YIREH

It’s day 2 people

That makes me just feel like dancing

But errr… I guess not. Let’s stick to writing.

So, an interesting thing happened yesterday. We to the airport just in time after over two and a half hours of london traffic

Although it’s nothing compared to Lagos traffic.

Ah! Lagos traffic is epic. Nothing tops it biko.

But I digress. So as I was saying. We got to the airport and realized our flight had been cancelled. I was in total shock. Cancelled how?

Well YAHWEH was on the matter as instead of a 16 hours flight on Qatar we were given a 6+hours flight on British Airways. So I still got into Lagos the day I would only with less than two hours difference. So in the end of course my everything God showed up with favor and saw to it that I was sorted.

Which leads me to our prayer for today. My situation yesterday triggered my praying today’s name of God.

The first time I came across the name JEHOVAH JIREH was in Genesis 22. The chapter where God asked Abraham to take his beloved son Isaac to a mountain He would show him and sacrifice him there.

I can only imagine how hard it must have been for Abraham to take that long walk knowing what he had to do.

To sacrifice a son he had waited for for so long – the son of promise.

Probably almost as hard as the walk Jesus had to make to another mountain thousands of years later.

And I say almost because the only difference was Jesus walked up that mountain knowing there was no way of escape. Not even the least bit hopeful that anything could change. Abraham went up believing that God would show up.

Don’t know the story? Let me get you up to speed.

“Abraham got up early in the morning and saddled his donkey. He took two of his young servants and his son Isaac. He had split wood for the burnt offering. He set out for the place God had directed him. On the third day he looked up and saw the place in the distance. Abraham told his two young servants, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I are going over there to worship; then we’ll come back to you.”

They arrived at the place to which God had directed him. Abraham built an altar. He laid out the wood. Then he tied up Isaac and laid him on the wood. Abraham reached out and took the knife to kill his son. After all this, God tested Abraham. God said, “Abraham!” “Yes?” answered Abraham. “I’m listening.” He said, “Take your dear son Isaac whom you love and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I’ll point out to you.”

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and gave it to Isaac his son to carry. He carried the flint and the knife. The two of them went off together. Isaac said to Abraham his father, “Father?” “Yes, my son.” “We have flint and wood, but where’s the sheep for the burnt offering?” Abraham said, “Son, God will see to it that there’s a sheep for the burnt offering.” And they kept on walking together.

Just then an angel of GOD called to him out of Heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Yes, I’m listening.” “Don’t lay a hand on that boy! Don’t touch him! Now I know how fearlessly you fear God; you didn’t hesitate to place your son, your dear son, on the altar for me.” Abraham looked up. He saw a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. Abraham took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. Abraham named that place GOD -Yireh ( GOD -Sees-to-It). That’s where we get the saying, “On the mountain of GOD, he sees to it.””

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭22:1-14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I can’t even begin to imagine what was going through his mind. Honestly, 3 days is a long time to worry about whether God will make a way of escape or not. For most of us we would have built castles of doubt and convinced ourselves that this wasn’t God. I would do love to know what he was thinking. Isaac too must have wanted to know and thankfully he had the opportunity to ask. Omo the boy say make e ask before person turn asun. Hian! And this was his father’s response

And in that minute, that very instant a beautiful side to our God is revealed …

JEHOVAH JIREH – THE GOD WHO SEES TO IT

In other words when you can’t see a way there’s no need to worry. Jehovah Jireh will provide a way.

I cannot even begin to tell you the many times that I had almost given up and in the nick of time God would send me an angel to show me the ram in the thicket. There’s a ram in the thicket high up on a mountain waiting for you to see it. Yes it’s an unusual miracle but it’s yours today because Jehovah Jireh God will see to it and He will do it in style.

And Hod certainly showed up for Abraham as I’m sure He will for you too.

However contrary to what we think when we think of JEHOVAH JIREH, God doesn’t always just send money so don’t limit Him. He provides whatever is needed.

It includes money but is not limited to. He’s no respecter of economy after all prosperity doesn’t come from abroad it comes from above. It comes from His riches in glory.

When you meditate on his name JEHOVAH JIREH it is a call to focus on the God who solves all problems. The God who supplies all we need. So is there really any need to worry?

Relax God will see to it – YHWH YIREH

Love you my darlings. See you tomorrow

  1. YHWH YIREH- the one who sees to it.
Matthew 6:25 is so apt. I love the TPT version- “this is why I tell you to never worry about your life, for all that you need will be provided”. Glory to you YHWH YIREH!!!
